Pedestrian Struck by Freight Train
Riverside, Ca- On March 9, 2006 at approximately 6:30 PM, Riverside Police Dispatch received a report of an adult
male who was struck by a moving train. The BNSF train was heading westbound approaching Madison Street when they encountered
an adult male standing on the tracks.
The railroad engineer observed the pedestrian and attempted to alert him by sounding
the air horns. The male stood in the direct path of the approaching train and did not move. The engineer was unable to stop and
the pedestrian was struck. Medical aid responded to the scene, however the subject had expired as a result of his injuries.
Railroad police responded to the scene and conducted the investigation, assisted by Riverside Police and the Riverside County
Coroner’s Office.
The deceased was fifty years old and a local Riverside resident whose last known address was in the
immediate neighborhood where this incident occurred.
