Hit and Run vehicle narrowly misses officer

Riverside, Ca- On July 01, 2006, at approximately 3:24 AM, Riverside police officers were on 14th Street near the intersection with Park Street conducting a D.U.I. investigation. They had arrested a suspect for drunk driving and were in the process of impounding the suspect’s car. A passing vehicle collided with the suspect vehicle driver’s side door causing moderate damage and missing the officer by inches who at the time was leaning into the suspect car conducting an inventory search of it.

The vehicle that caused the collision failed to stop and continued east on 14th Street. The vehicle is described as a light-colored, mid-sized 4 door and should have damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. No suspect(s) were seen but the driver is being sought for the crime of hit and run.
