Youths Injured in Shooting
Riverside, Ca- Shortly after 4 p.m., Monday,
January 30, 2006, there were several shots fired from the front-side yard of a
residence on the 1900-block of Seventh Street, near Douglass Ave. Two juveniles
received non-life threatening injuries.
A group of three Hispanic youths encountered the suspects in the yard of the
residence and exchanged taunts earlier in the afternoon. The Hispanic youths
left but said they'd return. When the Hispanic youths returned to the scene, the
verbal exchange resumed and shots were fired. The youths scattered, including
those injured.
Two youths received treatment some distance from the scene and were taken to
Riverside Community Hospital, a 15-year-old male with a back wound to the hip
and a 16-year-old make with a wound to the hip.
The suspects are described as black males in their early to mid-twenties.
The incident may or may not be gang-related; the gang unit has been notified and
the investigation continues.
A weapon was recovered at the scene.
The Area Commander has ordered extra patrols for the area.
