Fraud suspect caught
Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Officers responded to a 911 call from a Canyon Crest business at 12:58 p.m.,
reporting an attempted commercial fraud in progress. A man was using fake ID and stolen credit card information in an
attempt to obtain a cash advance through traveler’s cheques. The suspect fled toward other stores at the Towne Center
shopping mall when police officers arrived.
The officers pursued the suspect on foot. A taser was deployed to detain the suspect after he failed to obey repeated
commands to stop. A 34-year-old white male from San Diego was arrested without further incident. He was recently
paroled from state prison, where he had been serving time for narcotics-related offenses. The suspect was taken to
Riverside Community Hospital for treatment of a minor laceration prior to booking at Robert Presley Detention Center.
