Multicultural Youth Festival: April 23

Riverside, Ca- The Riverside Youth Council proudly invites you to the City of Riverside's 2nd Annual Multicultural Youth Festival, "How Big is YOUR World?" The festivities will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2006, on the Main Street pedestrian mall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and activities are free!

Three main stage areas will feature entertainment, such as traditional dance performances like Irish River Dance, Brazilian Capoeria, a special appearance by award-winning Latino recording artist Diego Diego, African cultural drummers, and Native American music. Visitors can collect “Country Cards” from each booth containing facts about individual countries, and later test their knowledge about these countries during all-day trivia contests at each stage. The Festival will feature 105 country booths and 10 special event booths!

Other activities and attractions include:

  • 10 award-winning student films, each promoting diversity in content and creativity, at the theatre of the UCR California Museum of Photography, 3824 Main St., on the Pedestrian Mall.

  • The “One World…Many Hands…Holding Our Future” festival banner -- to which festival ngoers are encouraged to add their handprints -- will be displayed on the outside of Riverside City Hall following the Festival.
