Chief Leach announces promotion

Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach is pleased to announce the promotion of Officer Dan Russell to the rank of Sergeant, effective April 21, 2006.

Sergeant Dan Russell was born and grew up in Corona and entered the Los Angeles Police Department Academy in 1989, at age 21. Russell served his first 12 years as a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, serving in Patrol, on the Specialized Problems Unit, with the Gang Unit and as a Field Training Officer. In April 2001, Russell made the lateral transfer to the Riverside Police Department. After first serving in Patrol, Russell has been Training Coordinator in the Personnel and Training Division since 2003. He is married to Kathleen; they have three children. Sergeant Russell will continue working in Personnel and Training for the time being.
