Riverside, Ca- On Monday, December 5, 2005, shortly before 11:00 PM, the Riverside Police Dispatch Center received a 911 emergency call from an employee at Alessandro Liquor - 1051 Alessandro Blvd. - regarding an armed robbery. Two masked suspects entered the business armed with handguns, demanded money, and forced the employees to the floor. One suspect began taking money from the cash register, while the other suspect began binding the victim’s hands. One of the employees was able to arm himself with a handgun and shoot both suspects, killing one and critically injuring the other. The injured suspect ran from the store to a waiting vehicle, which was last seen leaving the parking lot traveling eastbound on Alessandro Blvd. One of the employees received a minor injury during the incident.

Shortly before 11:30 PM the Riverside Police Dispatch Center received a call from an emergency room nurse at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley regarding a gunshot victim that walked into the emergency room. The subject stated he was shot in a park in Moreno Valley, but he would not provide any further details. Riverside Police Detectives contacted the subject at the hospital and at this time he has not been ruled out as a suspect in the robbery.

The identity of the deceased suspect is being withheld pending notification of family by the Riverside County Coroner’s office.
