Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach is pleased to
announce the promotions of Sergeants Jaybee Brennan and James Walters to
Lieutenant, Detectives Michele Jackson and Wayne Ramaekers to the rank of
Sergeant and Officers Kymberli Boemia and Jeffrey Spencer to the rank of
Detective.
Lieutenant Jaybee Brennan joined the Riverside Police Department in 1997,
after spending 12 ½ years with El Cajon Police Department where she obtained the
rank of Sergeant. Lieutenant Brennan has served as a Patrol Officer, Field
Training Officer, University Neighborhood Enhancement Team (U.N.E.T.), and at
the Galleria at Tyler sub-station. She was promoted to the rank of Detective in
2000 and worked in the Economic Crime Unit. Lieutenant Brennan was promoted to
the rank of Sergeant in 2001 where she worked Patrol, Traffic, and most recently
Internal Affairs.
Lieutenant Brennan is a volunteer for the Community Theater Foundation, the
Inland Empire Boy Scouts of America, and St. Catherine’s Catholic Church of
Temecula. She is a community trainer and speaker for college, high school and
courts in the area of Domestic Violence, Cycle of Violence, and Family
Intervention.
Lieutenant James Walters began his law enforcement career in 1973 as a
Riverside Police Cadet and became a Police Officer in 1976. Lieutenant Walters
has served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Parking Unit
Coordinator, and School Resource Officer. He was promoted to the rank of
Detective in 1989 and worked in the Auto Theft/Economic Crime Unit, Crimes
Against Property Unit and in the Traffic Accident Investigation Unit. Lieutenant
Walters was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2000, where he served as a
patrol supervisor. His most recent assignment was to the Attorney General’s
Compliance Task Force, in the Office of the Chief.
Lieutenant Walters is a lifetime Riverside resident, he has coached and
coordinated youth baseball programs in Riverside for 27 years. He is an active
umpire and instructor at the college and high school levels.
Sergeant Michele Jackson joined the Riverside Police Department in 1989
after serving as a Police Officer for the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office and
Hermosa Beach Police Department for 3 years. As an officer, Sergeant Jackson
performed duties as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and School Resource
Officer. She was promoted to the rank of Detective in 2001 where she worked in
the Sexual Assault Child Abuse/Domestic Violence Unit (S.A.C.A.), and the Office
of the Chief, Attorney General’s Compliance Task Force. Her most recent and
continuous assignment is to the Office of the Chief as the department’s
spokesperson.
Sergeant Wayne Ramaekers began his law enforcement career with the Los
Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 1985. Sergeant Ramaekers joined the
Riverside Police Department in 1988. As an officer, Sergeant Ramaekers performed
duties as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and School Resource Officer.
He was promoted to the rank of Detective in 2001 where he worked in the
Personnel and Training Division and Narcotics Unit. His most recent assignment
was to the Special Investigation Bureau, Vice Unit.
Detective Kymberli Boemia began her law enforcement career with the
Riverside Police Department in 1995. She performed duties as a Patrol Officer,
University Neighborhood Enhancement Team (U.N.E.T.), and most recently as a
School Resource Officer. Detective Boemia is a negotiator for the Emergency
Negotiation Team.
Detective Jeffrey Spencer began his law enforcement career in 1993 as a
Riverside Police Cadet and became a Police Officer in 1994. He performed duties
as a Patrol Officer, and in 2000 was assigned as the Traffic/Tow Officer,
Impound Hearing Officer and Parking Supervisor.
The promotions are effective September 10, 2004.
