Fatal Traffic Collision

Location: Jurupa Ave. E/of Rio Rancho Way.

Riverside, Ca-  At approximately 6:45 PM, the Riverside Police Department responded to a major injury collision at the above location. Officers arrived on scene and the preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A full-size truck pulling a horse trailer was eastbound Jurupa and attempted to turn into the driveway of 5616 Jurupa Ave., when it was involved in a non-injury collision with another eastbound motorist. Both the vehicle (2001 Honda) and the horse trailer remained in the street as Mr. Acedo, who was not involved in the collision, stepped into the eastbound lanes of Jurupa to access the damage. A single motorist, also traveling eastbound Jurupa, collided with the rear of the horse trailer. The vehicle (2003 Toyota) then struck Mr. Acedo in the roadway and then veered into oncoming traffic, side-swiping another vehicle (2004 Chevy Tahoe) traveling westbound Jurupa.

RFD and AMR personnel responded and pronounced Mr. Acedo deceased at the scene. Both drivers and two additional passengers in the Chevy Tahoe were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to investigate the collision. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
