Riverside, Ca- On November 29, 2004 at 2:20
PM a male was robbed at gunpoint and his vehicle was taken from the 1300 block
of Massachusetts Ave in Riverside. Officer Laura Riso of the University
Neighborhood Enforcement Team overheard the call and responded to an area she
believed the suspects might be heading. She located the vehicle taken in the car
jacking parked with no one around. She initiated a stake out on that vehicle.
At approximately 4:30 PM another armed car jacking occurred in the 3200 block of
Panorama Rd with similar suspect descriptions. At 4:40 PM the car taken from
Panorama drove into the area where the first car-jacking vehicle was being
watched. Officers attempted to stop the second car-jacking vehicle however it
failed to stop for several blocks. The suspects quickly abandoned the vehicle
and fled on foot.
A perimeter was established and while a search was being conducted, officers
were directed to an abandoned residence where neighbors heard noises. Officers
along with a K-9 entered the residence and found two suspects hiding.
The victims of both car jackings identified the suspects as the car jackers and
other evidence was located on their person. The adult was booked into Robert
Presley Detention Center and is being held without bail. The juvenile was booked
in Riverside County Juvenile Hall. Both vehicles were returned to their owners.
