19 Riverside Police Officers Receive Awards for their Outstanding Police Service

Riverside, Ca-  On Monday, November 8, 2004 Chief Russ Leach will award the “Police Medal” to Officer Carl Turner during an awards ceremony in City Council Chambers (3900 Main St.). The “Police Medal” is being awarded to Officer Turner for his exemplary conduct portraying the highest standard of police service, for knowingly assuming extreme and grave personal risk during the rescue of a Riverside resident who was asleep in his vehicle which was fully engulfed by fire.

Deputy Chief Pytlak will be awarding 18 Riverside Police Officers with the Commendation for Excellent Team Effort commending them for their distinguished performance and high degree of professional excellence during an incident that involved an agitated, suicidal, and dangerous subject with a loaded handgun.

Both of these incidents occurred in early April 2004.

Members of the community, along with the media, are encouraged to attend this awards ceremony to honor these distinguished officers. The ceremony will commence at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m.
