Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Officers responded to the 1900 blk. of
Seventh St. regarding a report of five to six shots being fired in the area. As
officers arrived into the area they received additional information of a wounded
man in front of 3580 Dwight St.
Officers responded to the location and found a wounded subject later identified
as Julio Cesar Godoy, 31, lying in the street. The victim appeared to have been
shot four times the most serious was a gunshot wound to the head.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and two acquaintances were
riding bicycles on Ottawa Ave. approaching Loma Vista. Two black males
approached them and started saying unknown type gang slang. One of the suspects
then produced a semi-auto type handgun and started shooting at the victim. The
victim was shot four times his two acquaintances were not injured. The two
suspects fled in an unknown direction of travel.
Victim Godoy was transported to Riverside Community Hospital were it was
determined his injuries were not life threatening.
