Stolen Check Suspect Arrested

Riverside, Ca-  On 06-01-04, Riverside Police stopped Shannon Jo West, 33, in the area of 4th and Orange Street in Riverside for a traffic violation. West was found to be in possession of a counterfeit Driver’s License and stolen checks. She was arrested on these charges as well as a violation of probation.

Detectives then responded to West’s residence at the 3300 Block of 2nd Street, Riverside and conducted a probation search. More than 1,000 stolen checks were located at the residence as well as numerous counterfeit identification cards. West had a computer in her room that was left on and showed work being done on a counterfeit California Driver’s License.

Several victims of the stolen property have been contacted. It appears that much of the stolen property had been taken in recent burglaries within the area. Detectives will be contacting other possible victims.

Detectives believe that West is responsible for numerous identity thefts and for providing stolen checks and counterfeit identification to several suspects in the area. Detectives will contact any additional victims that are identified during this investigation.

Shannon Jo West was arrested in April 2004 on similar charges and pled guilty to a felony offense. For that conviction she was to serve jail time on weekends and placed on formal probation. This new arrest will be submitted to the District Attorney to support a violation of her probation.
