Riverside, Ca- Riverside Police Officers
responded to the Arlington Ave. / Norwood Ave. intersection regarding a fatal
traffic collision that occurred at 5.48 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2004.
Officers’ preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate Riverside
resident Michael Sackal, 43 yrs., and his passenger Theresa Sackal, 42 yrs. were
traveling eastbound on Arlington Ave. on a motorcycle at a high rate of speed.
Michael Sackal lost control of their motorcycle and struck the roadway curb.
After striking the curb the motorcycle traveled 400’ prior to overturning and
ejecting them both from the motorcycle.
Michael Sackal sustained major life threatening injuries and was transported to
Riverside Community Hospital and is in critical condition; Theresa Sackal
sustained major injuries and expired at the collision scene.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT)
responded to the scene to investigate the collision. Police ask any possible
