The television show, America’s Most Wanted,
will broadcast an episode related to the January 8, 2004 killing of Brink’s
Armored Car guard Corey Medlock. The episode will be shown of Fox, Channel 11 on
Saturday May 1, 2004 at 9:00 P.M.
On January 8, 2004 at about 10:30 A. M. a Brinks Armored Car arrived at the Food
For Less Grocery Store at 4250 Van Buren Blvd. to make a money delivery. One of
the guards entered the store with a container of U.S. currency. As he walked
through the store, a man walked up to him from behind and shot him one time in
the head. The suspect took the container of money and fled through a rear door
of the store. Witnesses saw the suspect leave in a newer red Ford Taurus
passenger car. He was wearing a wig, baseball hat, and sunglasses.
The guard, 28 year-old Cory Medlock of San Bernardino, was transported to
Riverside Community Hospital. He was pronounced deceased on January 9, 2004.
Investigators learned that a similar robbery occurred in Dallas, Texas on
December 8, 2003. A surveillance camera captured that incident on videotape. The
suspect is strikingly similar to the suspect in the Riverside robbery-homicide.
A third similar robbery occurred in San Antonio, Texas on April 19, 2004.
America’s Most Wanted will review all three incidents during the broadcast.
Brink’s International is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to
the arrest and conviction for the murder of Corey Medlock.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Rick Cobb
at 909-320-8034 or Detective Jay Greenstein at 320-8058.
