Riverside, Ca- On April 17,
2004, at approximately 1151 hours, the Riverside Police Department responded to
an injury collision at the intersection of Arlington Ave. and Indiana Ave. On
arrival, officers found two vehicles had collided in the intersection with one
of them coming to rest against a light pole.
A 1988 Ford Econoline van was W/B Arlington Ave. and failed to stop for the red
light. The vehicle collided with a 2003 Toyota Celica, which was N/B Indiana
entering the SR91 Freeway. The van glanced off the vehicle and collided with a
light pole, where it came to rest. Witnesses at the scene believed the driver of
the van suffered a Heart Attack prior to the collision.
The driver, who suffered major chest injuries, was transported to Riverside
Community Hospital (RCH) via ambulance. Emergency room medical staff attempted
to treat the driver, who later died. The identity of the driver is being
withheld pending notification of family.
The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is
investigating the collision. Anyone with information regarding the collision is
