Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach is pleased to
announce the promotion of Andy Pytlak to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. As
the Deputy Chief of Police Operations, his command will include Field Operations
(Patrol); Special Operations; and Investigations Division.
Deputy
Chief Andy Pytlak is a thirty-year veteran of the Riverside Police Department
and Riverside resident. He has served in the supervision and/or management of a
variety of police units and programs during his law enforcement career which
include Special Investigations (Narcotics, Gangs, Vice, Criminal Intelligence,
Asset Forfeiture), General Investigations (Homicide, Robbery, Crimes Against
Property, Economic Crimes), Family Services (Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault,
Child Abuse, School Resource Program), Special Operations (Aviation Unit,
Traffic Services, Accident Investigation, Parking Enforcement, Crossing Guards,
Hazardous Materials Response, Explosive Ordinance Detail), and Field Operations
(Patrol, Field Training Officer Program, Reserve Program and Cadet Program).
He received an appointment as special deputy for the United States Marshall’s
Office, and works with federal agents as a liaison for homeland security. He
received his degree in Criminology from the University of California, Berkeley,
and has accrued numerous hours of continuing professional training in leadership
and police administration through the Commission of Peace Officer’s Standards
and Training.
Deputy Chief Pytlak is active in a variety of professional organizations
including the Fraternal Order of Police, Peace Officers Research Association of
California, California Narcotics Officers Association, California Peace Officers
Association, California Association of Police Training Officers, California
Association of Background Investigators, Law Enforcement Training Advisory
Committee - Riverside County, Regional Occupation Program - Riverside County
Office of Education - Law Enforcement Academy.
He is also active in community organizations including past advisory board
chairman - Riverside Corp of the Salvation Army, member of the board of
directors, Youth Service Center of Riverside County, member of the Greater
Riverside Chamber of Commerce, steering committee member – “Leadership
Riverside” – Riverside Chamber of Commerce.
