Riverside, Ca- At
approximately 7:45 pm on November 01, 2002, officers were called to the area of
Blaine and Watkins regarding a major injury traffic collision. The preliminary
investigation indicates that a motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Blaine
and failed to stop for the red signal at Watkins. The overhead signal had turned
green for a Dodge sedan, which was turning left from eastbound Blaine onto
northbound Watkins. The
motorcyclist went down attempting to avoid a collision, but subsequently struck
the right front portion of the car.
The
motorcyclist was taken to Riverside Community Hospital by AMR where he was
pronounced deceased. The motorcyclist is identified as 24 year-old Gregory Allan
Sommer of Riverside. The driver and passenger of the Dodge sedan were not
injured in the collision.
Members
of the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct
further investigation.
