Riverside, Ca- On Thursday, July 25, 2002 at approximately 2:08pm, the Riverside Police
Department was notified that an adult male was inside of an apartment located at
11383 Magnolia Ave., The Magnolia Apartments. The adult male was identified as David Brackett, a 37 year
old white male with an outstanding felony warrant from the Bonner County
Sheriff’s Office in Idaho. The
original charge listed on the warrant was for “Lewd Conduct With A Minor Under
The Age Of 16”.
Riverside
Police Officers responded to the apartment to make contact with Mr. Brackett.
When the officers contacted Mr. Brackett, he displayed a handgun and pointed it
to his own head. Mr. Brackett then
walked into a bathroom with the gun still pointed at his own head and barricaded
himself inside. Riverside Police
Officers walked back out of the apartment and established a perimeter.
Officers from the Special Weapons And Tactics team (S.W.A.T.) responded
to the scene as well as Hostage Negotiators.
After approximately 4 ½ hours, Mr. Brackett gave himself up and was
taken into custody without incident.
During
this incident, no hostages were taken and no injuries were reported from the
suspect or any of the officers on scene.
David
Brackett was transported to the Riverside County Regional Medical Center
Inpatient Treatment Facility for a Mental Health Evaluation.
Upon completion of the evaluation, Mr. Brackett will be booked into the
Riverside County Jail on the outstanding warrant.
