Riverside, Ca- On October 6, 2005, at 4:16pm, a
27-year-old male from Los Angeles was driving his 1983 Chevy Van west on Seventh
Street when a 6-year-old boy ran southbound into the street striking the side of
the moving vehicle.
A citizen witness called in the accident and the Riverside Fire and Police
Departments were sent to the scene. The Paramedics transported the boy to the
Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment, due to the severity of his injuries.
The young child, who lives several blocks away, was in front of 1971 Seventh
Street when he ran into the roadway while chasing a dog. He struck the right
front side of the van and was run over by the right rear tire after falling to
the ground. He is listed as stable, but guarded, with a broken hip and
abrasions.
The driver of the van was found to be unlicensed and uninsured. He was issued a
citation at the scene and his Chevy van was impounded.
Members of the Riverside Police Department’s (M.A.I.T.) Major Accident
Investigation Team responded and the collision is under investigation. Anyone
with further information can contact Detective Joe Avila at (951) 826-5577.
