Riverside, Ca- On Sunday June 19, 2005 at about 6:50 AM, officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to Villegas Park to investigate a report of a man down. A Riverside city employee from the Parks and Recreation Department discovered the Hispanic male adult victim lying face down with what appeared to be a head injury. Medical personnel from the Riverside Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim deceased.

The subsequent investigation revealed the victim had sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso. The investigation is ongoing; however, there is no suspect information and no witnesses have come forward at this time. The identity of the victim will be released pending notification of immediate family.
