Riverside, Ca- On 7-14-05, at about 1357 Hrs.,
officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to the park located at
4321 Sedgewick in the city of Riverside regarding a shooting. Three males walked
to the park (one Black male and two Hispanic males) to meet a friend. The two
Hispanic males spoke to the friend while the Black male sat on a signal control
box in the park and spoke on his cell phone. A silver or gray sedan containing
two Hispanic males drove by and the passenger yelled out the name of a local
gang. The Black male sitting on the signal box ignored the occupants of the car
and continued to talk on his cell phone. The car negotiated a u-turn and parked
in the parking lot of the park. The driver and passenger exited the car and
confronted the Black male asking him why he was in the park. An argument ensued
and the Black male called for his friends to assist him. At this point the
Hispanic male passenger from the car pulled out a handgun and fired four shots
at the Black male, striking him in the hand and right leg. The Black male was
transported to Riverside Community Hospital and he is expected to recover from
his injuries. Anyone with information is requested to call Detective Scott
Impola at (951) 320-8132.
