Riverside, Ca- At approximately 11:56PM on
January 5, 2005, officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to
University Avenue and Iowa Avenue to assist the California Highway Patrol in an
Officer Involved shooting. Communications advised two suspects fled the shooting
scene westbound on University from Iowa in a silver pickup truck.
A short time later, officers located the vehicle in the area of University and
Cranford. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound from the shooting at
University and Iowa and the second suspect fled the scene on foot. The wounded
suspect was transported to Riverside Community Hospital for medical treatment.

Subsequent investigation revealed the suspect vehicle had been stolen in
Riverside just prior to the shooting. The Police Department is continuing to
investigate the circumstances of the vehicle theft and related crimes.
