Riverside, Ca- On February 3, 2005, at 1332
hours, officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to a major injury
traffic collision where a single vehicle veered off the roadway and into a
ravine. According to witnesses, the collision occurred when a 1998 Toyota Camry
traveling east on Central crossed over toward the north curb line just west of
Quail Run and continued on the wrong side of the road until it struck the curb,
vaulted up an embankment and then down into the ravine.
The vehicle struck a large tree at the bottom of the ravine. The female
passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The
70-year-old male driver sustained major injuries and was taken to Riverside
Community hospital for treatment.
Members of the Department’s Traffic and Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.)
responded and the collision is under investigation.
