Riverside, Ca- The Riverside Police Department
continues to investigate the tragic and inexcusable shooting death of an
11-year-old boy on Sunday, December 25, 2005, at approximately 8:06 PM, at his
home in the 6300-block of Antioch Avenue.
Homicide detectives are acting on leads that a dark-colored small import sedan
had driven by around the time several shots were fired at the house. The
occupant of that car -- described as a heavy Hispanic male, about 210 lbs.,
approximately 25-30 years of age, with a mustache and medium hair about three
inches long -- is being sought for questioning by Detectives.
The victim and his family were new to the neighborhood; there is no apparent
connection between the family or the targeted dwelling and any gang activity,
although the shooting is similar to gang violence. Several deliberate shots were
directed at a concentrated area of the front of the house. The Riverside Police
Gang Unit is involved in the investigation.
Plans are in place to help ensure the safety of residents in areas of the city
touched by recent gun violence.
The senseless and cowardly Christmas Day murder of an innocent child victim is
the No. 1 priority for the Riverside Police Department. Anyone with information
regarding this murder is urged to call Detective Greg Rowe at 951-320-8024 or
Detective Steve Shumway at 951-320-8011.
