Riverside, Ca- On August 26, 2005 shortly before 9:30 P. M., Riverside Police Dispatch center received several calls regarding a gunshot victim lying in the street on Penny Avenue near Rutland Avenue. Officers arrived and found an adult male who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper torso. Riverside Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel arrived and treated the victim at the scene before transporting him via ambulance to Riverside Community Hospital. The victim died shortly after arrival. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Witnesses stated the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a white compact sedan occupied by three or four Hispanic males drove up and stopped. One of the occupants got out of the vehicle and fired several shots at the victim then sped off in the vehicle.
