Riverside, Ca- On Saturday, August 6, 2005, at approximately 11:45 PM, the Riverside Police Department received numerous reports of shots fired on Park Avenue south of Cridge Street. Officers responded and found three gunshot victims in the area.
The preliminary investigation revealed that four Hispanic males, ages 17-22, were walking on Park when they were confronted by a group of armed Black males. The first group began to run away as shots were fired at them from the second group. Three of the four Hispanic males were each struck by several times. When the officers arrived in the area, the wounded victims were in three different locations, one in the street, another hiding nearby and the third had reached a house approximately one block away. American Medical Response was called and they transported the injured to area hospitals.
All three of victims were seriously injured: two are in guarded condition and the third is in critical condition. Detectives from the Riverside Police Department Robbery Homicide Unit and Gang Unit were called to the scene to conduct the follow up investigation.
