Riverside, Ca- On Monday March 10, 2003 at
approximately 12:16 pm, officers from the Riverside Police Department responded
to the 9000 block of Colony Place reference a 3-year-old female that was having
a seizure. Medical personnel responded and transported the 3-year-old to
Riverside Community Hospital. Doctors at Riverside Community Hospital noted
severe internal head trauma as well as other injuries that were inconsistent
with statements made to officers at the scene. Investigators were called out to
the residence to conduct interviews with the family members and subsequently
arrested the child’s mother Melissa Sue Osuna, 23 and her boyfriend Ray Timothy
Ponce, 22, for suspicion of Child Abuse. The child was transported from
Riverside Community Hospital to Loma Linda University Medical Center and remains
in critical condition.
