Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach
is pleased to announce the promotions of Detective Jeff Joseph and Officer Ron
Ruddy to the rank of Sergeant and Officers Darren Woolley and James Dana to the
rank of Detective.
Sergeant Jeff Joseph began his law enforcement career with the Riverside
County Sheriff’s Department in 1977. Sergeant Joseph transferred to the
Riverside Police Department in 1983. As a Police Officer, Joseph performed
duties as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard and Reserve
Officer Coordinator, and special assignment with the Warrant Unit. In 1995
Joseph was promoted to the rank of Detective. As a Detective, Joseph was
assigned to Domestic Violence Sexual Assault unit, Persons Crime Unit, and Arson
Investigations. In 1995 Joseph was awarded the Department’s Distinguished
Service Medal.
Sergeant Ron Ruddy began his law enforcement career with the Orange
County Sheriff’s Department in 1988. Sergeant Ruddy transferred to the Riverside
Police Department in 1990. As a Police Officer, Ruddy performed duties as a
Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and Mobile Field Force team member. In
2002 Sergeant Ruddy was assigned to Personnel Services Division as Recruiting
Officer and Background Investigator. In 1994 Ruddy was awarded the Department’s
Medal of Valor.
Detective Darren Woolley began his law enforcement career in 1994 with
the Riverside Police Department. As a Police Officer, Woolley performed duties
as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Problem Oriented Policing Team
member, and University Neighborhood Enhancement Team. Detective Woolley also
served as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and Hostage Negotiation Team member.
Detective James Dana began his law enforcement career with the Los
Angeles County Transit Authority in 1994. Detective Dana transferred to the
Riverside Police Department in 1997. As a Police Officer, Dana performed duties
as a Patrol Officer, special assignment Officer at the Galleria At Tyler, and
School Resource Officer.
