Riverside, Ca- At approximately 08:17 a.m., a
two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Central Ave. and Van Buren
Blvd. The first vehicle, a white Buick LeSabre was making a left turn from
Central Ave. onto Van Buren Blvd. When the second vehicle, a red Honda Accord,
who was traveling n/b on Van Buren Blvd., apparently ran the red light and
struck the side of the Buick.
The passenger in the Honda was partially ejected through the windshield and
sustained major injuries. The Riverside Fire Department had to use the “jaws of
life” to remove the driver of the Buick from the car. Members of the Riverside
Fire Department treated all three at the scene. All were transported to
Riverside Community Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.
The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is
investigating the collision.
