Riverside, Ca- The
Riverside Police Department is pleased to announce that it is accepting
applications for the 17th Citizen's Academy.
The academy will begin on Thursday, January 16, 2003 and will conclude on
March 13, 2003. Sessions will run
from 6pm – 9pm. The academy will be held at the Lincoln Avenue Police Station
located at 8181 Lincoln Ave., near Adams St.
The
Citizen's Academy is a fun and exciting program designed to enhance a stronger
partnership between citizens and the Riverside Police Department through Public
Education. Topics will include Problem Oriented Policing, Crime Free
Multi-Housing, Use of Force, Gang and Narcotics Investigations, Firearms
Familiarization and much more. A
four-hour Police ride-a-long will be offered to the participants upon completion
of the academy.
The class size is limited to the first 35 applicants who
complete an application and informal background check. All sessions are
classroom setting and do not involve any physical training.
