Riverside, Ca- At 1424 hours, the Riverside Police Department received information regarding a collision at the intersection of La Sierra and Spaulding. The first on-scene officer found two persons in a passenger car and one person in a commercial van.
Based on witness statements, it appears that one of the vehicles failed to stop for a red light and entered the intersection in front of the second vehicle, which had the right of way. The vehicles collided. The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing their investigation.
One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The second driver was admitted to Riverside Community Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
The Riverside County Coroners Office is withholding the names of the victims, pending notification of their families.
