Riverside, CA – At approximately 7:36 PM on January 1, 2002, officers responded to the intersection of Arlington and Rutland regarding a major injury collision. As officers arrived on scene, it became apparent the collision involved a fatality.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a white Nissan, driven by Pedro Manzo, 27 yrs of Riverside, was traveling eastbound on Arlington Avenue in the #1 lane. The Nissan entered the intersection at Rutland Avenue on a red light and was struck by a Chevy pickup truck that was traveling southbound on Rutland Avenue.
As a result of the collision, Pedro Manzo was pronounced deceased at the scene. Pedro’s 3 yr old son, Brian, sustained an injury to his head and was transported to Loma Linda Hospital by AMR.
The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct the collision investigation.
