Home Invasion Robbery / Attempt Homicide

Riverside, Ca-  On Monday, October 5, 2001, at approximately 10:11 A.M., officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to a reported home invasion robbery with shots fired at a residence in the 7000 block of Harvest. They arrived and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Medical aid personnel responded and transported the victim to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment.

Investigators learned that the victim was at home when two Black male subjects, described as bring approximately 18-20 years old, knocked on the front door. The suspects acted as if they were soliciting, but when the victim told them he was not interested, one of the suspects pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim. The victim then struggled with the suspect, during which the gun discharged striking the victim in the forehead. The suspects fled on foot, last seen on Harvest toward Washington Street.

The victim, Dwayne White, 47-years-old, of Riverside, was treated for the injury and released.

Anyone with further information related to this investigation is asked to contact Detective Curt Seymore at (909) 320-8052.
