Riverside, Ca- In two separate incidents, suspicious packages were located early Thursday evening, one in downtown Riverside, and one on the City’s east side.
On October 1, 2001, at about 5:30 p.m., members of the Riverside Police Department were summoned to the intersection of Kane and Olivewood regarding a suspicious package which was located by a motorist.
At about 7:30 p.m., a second, and unrelated package was located outside a residence in the 1400 block of Everton Place.
As a precaution, members of the public were evacuated from the immediate areas where the items were found, and traffic was diverted around the sites. Bomb technicians from the Department’s Technical Services Unit examined both packages, and rendered them safe.
