Riverside, Ca- On Sunday, November 11, 2001, at approximately 6:33 P.M., officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to a report of a man down in the 2700 block of Ninth Street. Upon arrival they located a subject on the south side of Ninth Street suffering from injuries sustained when hit by a vehicle. The victim was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Witnesses reported the victim was playing football in the street with other family members and moved to the side of the road when a vehicle was heard driving eastbound on Ninth Street. As the victim reached the side of the road, the driver was reported to accelerate and intentionally hit the victim. The vehicle continued and was last seen turning southbound onto Victoria Avenue.
The victim was identified as David Andrae Sahagun, Hispanic male, 36-years-old, of Riverside. The suspect vehicle was described as an unknown model Pontiac sedan, white in color, with a Hispanic male driver. The words, "Powered by Pontiac," were written across the top of the windshield.
