Riverside, Ca- On Monday, November 5, 2001 at approximately 8:10 p.m. Riverside Police Officers were requested to assist members of the California Highway Patrol in conducting a traffic stop on a suspected stolen vehicle, described as a silver Ford F-150 pickup truck.
As officers attempted to conduct the traffic stop in the area of Arlington Ave and Crest St. the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued throughout the City of Riverside. The pursuit traveled both on surface streets and the 91 freeway. During the pursuit officers reported 3 to 4 times that shots were being fired at them from the suspect vehicle. No officers were struck by the gunfire.
The pursuit lasted approximately 20-25 minutes. The pursuit came to end in front of the Goody’s Food Store located on California Ave. east of Van Buren Blvd. Both suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Shots were fired at the termination of the pursuit and both suspects, described as male Hispanics were taken into custody. The suspects were taken to an area hospital for injuries. The extent of the injuries or the conditions of the suspects are unknown at this time.
