Riverside, Ca- On Friday, July 20, 2001, at approximately 8:45 P.M., officers from the Riverside Police Department were in the area of Ottawa & University when they heard several gunshots. Immediately following the gunshots the Officers saw a Black male adult fall to the ground and found he had been shot at least once in the upper body. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim to Riverside Community Hospital where he later died. A second subject standing in front of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant was shot once in the leg. He was transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment. Witnesses in the area reported seeing between three and five Hispanic males with shaved head, ranging in ages between 18 and 21, in the area just before the shooting. They were last seen in a dark green or blue late model Honda Accord or Civic.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner is withholding the deceased victimís identity pending notification of next of kin. The second victimís identity is being withheld for his safety.
