Riverside, Ca-
The week of February 11th through 17th has been designated as National Child
Passenger Safety Week. More children die each year due to traffic collisions
than all childhood diseases combined. The Riverside Police Department is
supporting this national effort by participating in Child Safety Seat Clinics
throughout the county of Riverside.
On Thursday, February 15, 2001 we will be sponsoring a
Child Safety Seat Clinic at First
Baptist Nursery School, 5500 Alessandro Blvd. in Riverside. The clinic will
be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Certified National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration Technicians from the Riverside Police Department, the Riverside
County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency, the Riverside County Office of
Education, and the California Highway Patrol will partner to conduct child
safety seat inspections. These inspections will include checking for proper use,
recalls,
and
damaged or missing parts. Prizes will be awarded for properly installed child
seats. Parents can attend the clinic or call (909) 683-4803 for an appointment.
For further information, contact Karen Haverkamp, Traffic Education Coordinator
at (909) 789-0741.
Prior to the clinic, the media is being invited for a press conference to launch the start of a California Kids Plate grant awarded to the EMS Agency. The Riverside Police Department supports the EMS Agency in their efforts and will continue to partner with them to reduce the injuries and deaths associated with improper use of child safety seats.
