Riverside, Ca- On Friday, August 24, 2001, at approximately 11:30 P.M., officers from the Riverside Police Department were dispatched to a report of a man down in the parking lot in front of 5525 Van Buren. They arrived and found one subject down suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, and a second person suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the victim with the upper body gunshot wound dead, and transported the second victim to Riverside Community Hospital where he was treated and later released.
Investigators learned the deceased victim had been involved in a confrontation with a subject inside the Casa Tequila nightclub. They went outside to the parking lot where the suspect shot the victim. The second victim was struck in the leg with a stray round as he exited the business. The suspect was last seen in a blue Dodge Astro van, or GMC Safari van. The suspect was described as a light skin Hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, tall with a heavy build and light brown hair.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner is withholding the victimís identity pending notification of next of kin.
