Police Officer Applicants

The Riverside Police Department is looking for highly motivated individuals whose desire is to become community orientated problem solvers. Police Officer Trainee

Those applicants not meeting the minimum qualifications for Lateral / Entry Police Officer may be hired as Police Officer Trainee until successful completion of a California Basic P.O.S.T. Academy.  A Police Officer Trainee is an entry level Applicant. 

Police Officer Entry

A Police Officer Entry applicant must have completed a California Basic P.O.S.T. Academy or have been employed as a full-time sworn peace officer with a State of California law enforcement agency.  Those Applicants currently enrolled in a California Basic P.O.S.T. Academy may be accepted conditionally pending a successful completion of the California Basic P.O.S.T. Academy.

Police Officer Lateral

A Police Officer Lateral applicant must have completed a California Basic P.O.S.T. Academy and must currently be employed as a Police Officer, Deputy Sheriff or related Law Enforcement Officer with a State of California law enforcement agency.
