:: Housing Element Update

City ImagesThe Housing Element of the General Plan 2025 addresses neighborhood quality, the supply and quality of housing, housing assistance, and special needs.  Through the General Plan document, the city has a mandate to improve quality of life through housing, parks, land use, public services, transportation, etc.

Citizen's Advisory Committee

2008 Neighborhood Conference The Planning Division kicked-off the update of the Housing Chapter of the General Plan with an interactive booth and two workshops at the 2008 Neighborhood Conference. The Housing Chapter is a five-year strategy that sets the City’s priorities for housing.

The Housing Chapter booth, entitled, “Shaping Riverside and the Future of Housing,” included displays showing single and multiple family residential development, student, and mixed-use housing. Goals from the current housing chapter were displayed, and comments on how the City could achieve the goals were sought. Residents completed survey cards to tell us what they like most and least about housing opportunities in their neighborhoods and in the City.

In the workshop, they told us what matters most to them. Review the survey, presentation materials from the booth and workshop below.
