Who can I speak to about my citation?

You can call Parking Services at (951) 826-5620 to address any questions about your parking citation.

You can also submit in writing your statement indicating why you believe the citation was issued in error by following the instructions on the back of your citation.

How long do I have to pay my citation?

According to the Riverside Municipal Code you have 10 calendar days in which to respond from the issuance date. A notice is sent out reminding you to pay or contest your citation and also indicates when your citation is due prior to becoming delinquent.

Can I request an extension on my citation?

Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis and are more commonly issued for correctable citations such as Expired Registration, Tab Missing, or License Plate Missing. Applicable laws apply to all parking citations.

What happens after I contest?

Your citation is placed on hold while it goes through the Administrative Review process. The review process takes about two to three weeks and the results are mailed notifying you that the citation was either upheld or dismissed. If the citation is upheld additional information is provided for you to request an Administrative Hearing should you want to continue contesting your citation. Administrative Hearings are held once a month at City Hall.

What do I send in with my contest form?

Include your written statement along with the original citation or a copy if that is all you have. Pictures can also be submitted to support your appeal.

I have lost my parking citation how do I pay without my citation number?

We can look up your citation information with the license plate number, the VIN number, or the registered owner’s name. You can call us at (951) 826-5620.

I received a parking citation but no longer own the vehicle, am I still responsible for the parking citation?
