:: Presidential Park Neighborhood

NeighborhoodsPresidential Park has the unique privilege of being home to one of the first auto malls in the nation. The Riverside Auto Center is the heart of the neighborhood and was developed in 1965 as a cutting edge retail establishment. The continued focus of the neighborhood and the City of Riverside is the perpetuation of the Auto Center as an economic engine for the entire city.

Presidential Park gains its name from the streets that honor past Presidents and define the boundaries of the neighborhood. This community is home primarily to single family homes and small apartment buildings.

Presidential Park offers an intense blend of commercial, light industry and residential developments. The northwest corner of the neighborhood is dominated by the Riverside Auto Center, a premier commercial site of its day. The southeast corner is occupied by Corporation Yard and is devoted to high-quality industrial manufacturing. This area has been a part of Riverside since its incorporation. Street layout and building design follow the modern subdivision model, but only about half the developed land is for typical residential development. Nearly half of the homes in this neighborhood were built in the 1970’s and the rest area product of steady growth throughout the latter half of this century. Presidential Park has a tradition of home ownership and even today about seventy percent of homes are owned by their occupants.
