HOMELESS STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM For assistance, call
826-2200
The Homeless Street Outreach Team is made up of four outreach
team workers who conduct daily mobile outreach focusing on the
homeless on the streets, at service venues, and other locations
where they can be found in the City of Riverside. The Outreach Team
works in partnership with local agencies, law enforcement, health
professionals, and other city staff to help people get off the
streets and connected with services they need to gain stable housing
and achieve self-sufficiency. The Outreach Team also responds to the
needs and concerns of business operators, residents, and others
relative to issues of homelessness in the community. Staff from
local service provider agencies as well as community volunteers
assist the Team through “ride-alongs” throughout the week.
During the 2007-2008 program year, the Outreach Team engaged over
650 homeless individuals on the streets and other locations not
meant for human habitation in the City of Riverside. Outreach staff
works with community partners to get people connected to shelter,
housing, employment, benefits assistance, behavioral health
services, transportation back to their hometown, and other help they
need. Some of the outcomes include:

services including:
