The garden and landscape plan, designed by Master Gardener Cynthia Covert, features heirloom plants that would have been flourishing during the late 19th century. The goal of the gardens is to provide a true Victorian era experience for visitors that:
Utilizes historically accurate plants
Provides educational opportunities for all visitors, children and adults
Provides appropriate spaces for current and future events/programs
Provides source for heirloom plants
Integrates exterior landscape into interpretation of the site
