Youth Civic Engagement Committee
RYC members are promoting ways in which young people can utilize their skills and leadership to collaborate with city leaders and organizations throughout the community. The Youth Civic Engagement Committee (YCE) works to provide access and representation for young people in key areas of the community. They strive to yield opportunities for partnerships between youth and adults including collaboration with local government, schools, businesses, and community organizations to identify solutions to challenges in Riverside. This allows youth the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to be recognized as essential community resources. The Committee oversees reports to Council including reports to the Community Services & Youth Committee. The Committee engages with youth groups/organizations throughout the City. The YCE Committee organizes the nomination and selection process for the 25 Most Remarkable Teens. The YCE Committee also includes the Youth Liaisons to City Boards and Commissions including Cultural Heritage Board, Human Relations Commission, Board of Library Trustees, Metropolitan Museum Board and Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission.
Special Projects and Events Committee
RYC members organize community-wide projects and events including Stuff the bus, Martin Luther King Walk-A-Thon and Rock-A-Thon and oversee the launch and culmination of Season of Service, a three month campaign encouraging youths in the community to volunteer 10 hours of their time to Riverside. Officers of the group oversee the Reception for the 25 Most Remarkable Teens, family and supporters.
Public Relations Committee
The members of the Public Relations Committee oversee all marketing, communications, and public relations with the community at-large. Its members produce newsletters, press releases and content for the RYC Website and Facebook page. They oversee the Inspiring Youth of the Month initiative to recognize Youth Groups making a difference in their communities.
