Eating Healthy and Active Living among Youth



Fit Fresh Fun Riverside aims to support healthy eating and active living by building the capacity of youth allies through multiple strategies. This website aims to connect youth allies with resources, such as youth survey results, local projects, and links to more information. Youth Motivations


When planning youth activities, youth allies would benefit from insight into what motivates youth. Check out the resources at the bottom of the page to learn more about how to motivate the youth in your community to stay healthy. On July 30, 2016, Boy Scouts from Riverside Troop 2 conducted a survey at the Riverside Plaza and the Galleria at Tyler Mall to explore what activities youth do to stay healthy and what motivates them to stay healthy. About 200 youth (6-16 year-olds) participated in the survey with parental consent. The word clouds below depict the findings, with the more popular answers appearing larger. The survey revealed that the top three most popular activities that youth in Riverside like to do to keep themselves healthy are healthy eating, exercising, and running. The youth stated that their top three motivators to stay healthy were living longer, staying in good physical condition, and that staying healthy is fun.
