2008 Senior Awards - About Carolyn Grant

Carolyn GrantCarolyn Grant

Carolyn Grant moved to Riverside in 1977 and since then she has been a force to be reckoned with in the cultural and civic life of our city. She has served as a docent for the Riverside Metropolitan Museum and Heritage House. She has been a director and vice-president of the Riverside Museum Associates.

She found time to be president of the Riverside Land Conservancy and was asked by the City Council to serve on the Charter Review Commission where she studied new proposals, listened to the public, and helped sell the revised charter to the voters. Carolyn Grant was appointed to the City Centennial Steering committee to prepare for the City of Riverside’s “Celebration of the Century.”

She co-founded the Tours of the Town, Inc., company, which specializes in historic group tours of downtown Riverside. Soon after that, she was busy getting the Mission Inn Foundation off the ground with a well-organized docent program. In her spare time, Carolyn Grant has been a devoted Friend of the Riverside Library as board member and as president.

She was also part of the steering committee that created not just the highly popular Riverside Dickens Festival, but also the non-profit corporation to carry on this annual event, which now has hundreds of volunteers and draws thousands of visitors to Riverside every year.
