improve their reading and writing skills. Tutors receive training and
volunteer 2-3 hours a week.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Importance of Position: Help to create a more literate community in the city of Riverside
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and spelling skills
- Interested in assisting an adult in improving their basic literacy skills
- Friendly and outgoing.
Report To: Adult Literacy Program Coordinator
Responsibilities:
- Complete a tutor-training workshop
- Plan lessons tailored to the adult learner’s needs and goals
- Prepare a monthly report of hours spent tutoring
- Encouraged to attend tutor in-service meetings and roundtables
- Maintain record of hours served on time sheet
- Notification to coordinator if unable to meet schedule
Training Provided: All new tutors complete a new tutor orientation. A tutor manual/handbook is also provided. Two to three in-service workshops are held annually. Tutor roundtables are held periodically throughout the year.

Time Commitment: Two hours per week
Length Commitment: Minimum of six-month commitment requested
